18K gold or 14K gold ? Which one is the best to put small diamond ?

I want to put in the middle of simple 4mm white gold comfort fit wedding band 0.15 ct diamond from my grandmother pendant. My questions are :
Should I do it in 14 K or 18 K gold band ?
If Rhodium coating may eventually wear off and need
The higher karat, the softer the gold. If you want it sturdier, put it in the 14K.
As far as the rodium plating goes, if you go to a reputable jeweler, this shouldn't be a problem at all.
